Free Family Fun Map.com - Free and inexpensive family activities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties

Why are there boxes for events that are "Free Today"?

Isn't free just free?

Actually, not always. Although we list a lot of events on our site that are always free, there are some activities that are free only on certain days. For example, if you go to the Long Beach Art Museum on a Thursday, it will cost you about $14 for two adults and two children. However, if you go on a Friday, the museum is free for everyone.

What we do on our site is to list activities that are always free just as that - the icon on the page says free, and that means any time you can go there for free and do whatever it is you do there. However, for sites that sometimes cost money and sometimes are free, we do things a bit differently. If the activity is already within your price limit, then the icon for the activity will show up on the page like normal, with the normal price (for example, you have a price limit of $15, the icon for the Long Beach Art Museum will show up because it normally is only $14 for a family of four.)

If you see this icon on the map, you know that a free day is coming up. Click on the icon on the map for more information.

If you choose one of the check boxes for activities that are "Free Today", "Free Tomorrow" or "Free this week", then you might see some green icons like the one on the left. This icon means that the activity has a free day coming up in the time frame you selected. The price on the activity will still show it's normal, every day price, but because the icon is green, you know that some time soon, it will be free.

You can find out when by clicking on the icon on the map. In the window that comes up, the next few "Upcoming free days" will be listed for the activity. If you go on one of those days, you will not have to pay the normal entry fee. In some cases, there may still be parking fees, and we are curretly working on trying to find a way to make that more obvious.

So check out the map, click on different boxes and see what you can see. You never know what cool activity you might find.
